Why women
"When my husband doesn't have work it makes our economic situation difficult and also makes us depressed. This year my husband has been without work. With some of the classes I have learned new things that have helped me in my business. I've participated in crochet classes (ponchos, scarves, and baby blankets), purse making, and the leadership workshops. I also went to some of the business workshops when the young volunteers from the U.S. came to visit. They gave us good, new information and since their visit I have stopped working at TopiTop (retail store) where I realized I wasn't making a decent profit with my crochet scarves. They were exploiting me, paying me so little to knit a lot. When I knit or crochet as my own business I am able to make more money. I make money off of the new stitch we learned with the wire in making scarves.
This has made a difference in my life in how I think about things. I don’t only learn new things for myself, but I often teach other women in my neighborhood. So when I teach other women I charge them a very small fee. I tell them, "What you learn will help you in your life, use your knowledge." There are always women that wait for me and want to learn what I am doing, what is new, and what can I teach them.

Collective Giving
Donate by matching the donations of others
Connecther wants to make it easy for individuals, businesses and foundations to get involved in connected giving by providing them the ability to match donations on Connecther.org. The match amount that you choose is not deducted from your account until the project or giving group has met its particular goal. This collective giving model creates an incentive for people to raise more money for projects.
You can match donations of a project or group. Go to the project you wish to support and in the drop down menu under "How You Can Help", select "matching" and specify your amount in the "other" box. The minimum amount for our matching program is $100. When setting up your match, you may be prompted to create a paypal account. This is simple and will only take a minute! You can match to a project or group by following the check out instructions. Once the project or group reaches the amount that you specified as a match, your donation will take effect!
There is a minimum matching donation of $100.00. Matching donations will show up on the Connecther site as a pledge until the match-goal of the specified project or group is met, at the point the match is met, you will see your match take effect by being immediately added to the running total of the designated project fund total!
