Karachi, Pakistan

Karachi is one of the most populous cities of Pakistan, with over 20 million people residing here. The vast majority belong to the lower socio-economic classes and live in urban slums. In times of emergencies, the underprivileged have to go to public hospitals which are overcrowded, understaffed, and deliver poor quality healthcare. ChildLife Foundationís aim is to make quality critical care accessible to the children of Pakistan.

We have renovated and operate 2 emergency rooms in Public Sector Hospitals, hire and train qualified staff, and provide medicine and medical equipment.

These two facilities treat about 300,000 children annually completely free of cost. We have established protocols for treatment in collaboration with Stanford University, and our clinical staff provides trainings with certification from the American Heart Association. Our aim is to establish facilities across Karachi, such that in times of emergencies, a parent has an emergency room operated by ChildLife Foundation close to their home, where their child will be given the highest standard treatment. It costs $7 to provide a child with quality healthcare, and sponsoring the operating cost for treatment at a bed in the ER for $10,000 will ensure that approximately 1500 children will be treated. $20,000 will allow us to treat 3000 children.
