Educate a Girl, Bangladesh

Keep girls in school and give them a chance for a brilliant future.
Each morning when you see children heading to school, take a moment to think about the 130 million girls around the world who are not in school. We were inspired to create our Educate a Girl program when we heard the story of one such girl in 2016, the subject of the Pooja Khati’s film Asma. Film has the power to change lives — Asma's story has brought us to today, with 88 girls in school because of ConnectHER donors. We love seeing this kind of impact from our ecosystem of filmmakers becoming changemakers.

"This years achievement is we have reached the highest number of students studying in grade 12 and above. This is a milestone for connectHER, these are students who have been funded since 2014 and now they are all in high schools. We also have 10 students who are in Bachelors level. For the society they come from and the struggles they had been through, this achievement is tremendous because each of them is first generation university student.

The challenges for this year was definitely the political turmoil that every student and their families had to go through since June 2024. Its important to note because the political unrest affected every student indiscriminately. Classes were closed until late September. It also delayed their examinations and admissions to new classes. Hoping things will soon improve with the new government and students can resume their studies full fledged."
