"The girls are studying in different classes with the support of ConnectHER. A girl is preparing to be admitted to university after passing Higher Secondary Certificate this year."

We first heard Hazera's story in a 2018 CHFF film Superhero Without A Cape. We are happy to report that someone from ConnectHER went earlier this year to meet Hazera, tour her home and meet "her children." It was a joyful afternoon in Dhaka when our project manager Constance was greeted with a song by the forty kids in her care. And by a goat in the entryway :).

Hazera’s life as a former sex worker led her to begin housing the children of sex workers and other vulnerable children in her neighborhood, supporting them through school. Her goal was to give them a different path. Constance was able to meet some of the older girls when they returned from university — a remarkable achievement for them and a testament to Hazera’s enduring impact.

Hazera cares for kids with understanding and compassion. Her house is a safe place, often a last resort, for vulerable kids. After years of supporting them, it was so good to get to hug Hazera, color with some kids and hear their sweet voices singing.
