The Superhero Without Cape - Hazera Begum Shafiqua Nawrin Oishi, Asian University for Women

Prostitution has been termed as one of the oldest professions. It has been indeed an interesting chapter throughout the history. Bangladesh is one of the few Muslim countries in the world where prostitution is legal. Where 49.52% of the total population is female, the one’s in this profession has always been neglected and are deprived of their rights. Moreover, the children born in the womb of these sex-workers, are also deprived of their basic rights and often are ostracized. In the midst of this a superhero was seen to rescue these children. I am talking about Hazera Begum. Previously being a part of this profession, she now is dedicated to bring those unfortunate children of Sex-workers to her and give a better live. Even though she struggles to feed all 40 children of her (now), you will not find single one of age who does not go to school. She still advocates for better education and living condition for sex-worker’s children and the violence and violation of rights against sex-workers.
